INSPECTOR'S REPORT.

Since your last meeting I have attended to all matters referred to me by your Board, the more important of them, being as follows: — I. Boddytown .School District. — In conjunction with your treasurer, and after conference with Boddytown Householders' representatives and reference to the Greymouth and Paroa ■Committees, »I recommend that the new school district be declared as now delineated in the v Board's map ot committee districts. It will 'be necessary to publicly notify the boundaries of the Grey and Paroa district during the present week. "2. Wards — It will be necessary for the Board to divide the Education District into wards and publicly notfty the same before the end of the month. 8. Jack's Mill School Teacher.— Miss L. Harris, the teacher of Jack's Mill School, has been granted a month's leave of absence on medical certificate. Owing to the Easter vacation being so near no relieving teacner has yet been appointed. In this connection a request from the jack's Mill Committee appears on tlie Order Paper. 4. Ngahere School Teachers.— On medical certificate I have . granted JVliss Owens, the head teacher, a month's sick leave, and appointed Miss Kelly relieving head teacher and Miss Rooney temporary assistant during! her absence. o. — With the concurrence of the Inspector I have appointed Miss Ellen CTLeary a second year probationer (for !the unexpired of Miss Higgms' term of office. b". Roa School Building- Vote — With "the concurrence ef the Treasurer I have authorised the acceptance of the lowest tender received by i the l ßoa Committee for fencing the school ground. . 7. Ahaura Additions. — With the concurrence of the Treasurer the Ahaura Committee was authorised to invite tenders and accept the lowest for additions to Ahaura School residence. This has been done and the work is now in progress. ». Ngahere School BuildingFresh application has Seen made for and the Department lias again declined to 'grant an increased .building vote. !vsh receipt of the latter intimation I a meeting of town members for March 35th", ult., at which only Mr Kerr and myself attended. It was then decided to accept Mr Cundy's tender for the work which is now in progress. 9. Mr F. Smith whose tender for painting Moana, Swedes Mill and Ara tika Schools was accepted, has completed his contract and has been' paid the amount due. ■10. iMt R. Morrisey ihas completed the repairs to Kokiri school caused by bush ifires at the contract price accepted by the committee, and has been paid the amount due. 11. I have arranged matters in refernce to the truancy conditions at Hatters School referred to me by your Board. . -12. The suggestion of the Chamber of Commerce re establishing Technical Wool Classes is still subject of your sub-committees consideration. 13. The' sum of £24 4s 0d stg., cla-ss fees lin Connection 'with the Technical Carpentry class was received this morning*. The amount will appear in the next imonithly statement. 14. Moana Committee. — Word having been received from the Committee that • the out-house belonging- to Kotuku school has been destroyed by bush-fire, I authorised the erection of a new one at an estimate .^cost of £2 5s od. : '
