C Bates' summary and forecast are as follows:^ — Rain fell in Hawke's Bay, and a thunderstorm was reported during Tuesday night on the West Coast of the South Island, but the weather cleared up and to-day the weather has .been Avarm and fine with moderate to strong easterly winds in most parts of the country.

The barometer has risen and fal- . len .slightly everywhere.

Present indications are for warm and fair weather in the north, but a change may 'be expected shortly over South Island* moderatte to strong easterly winds prevailing northward of New Plymouth and (Napier, and increasing northerlies elsewhere. The .barometer will probably fall everywhere, especially in the south.
