PRESBYTERIAN SUNDAY SCHOOL
COMPETITIVE EXAMINATIONS.
A very pleasant, social evening' was spenc in the Totara Flat Presbyterian Church on Wednesday last when the scholars who.. sat fox the annual Sunday school .examination, which" is conducted by the Assembly, received their prizes. Although^ the school is probably among the smallest in, the Dominion (there being only about, six scholars all told), the marks gained could not easily be excelled, if indeed equalled. - • In the Junior , Catechism division David- Methven and Robert Duncan, received the possible maximum, 100 per cent ; while L. Campbell and Norman Marshall received 94 and 91 respectively. In the. Primary Catechism division J. Baybutt also received 100 per cent. . In the Junior Scripture Division Norman Marshall and 'Robert Duncan each received 99 per cent, while J. Baybutt came close up with 96. The essay on the "Life of Samuel,'' was attempted by R. Duncan, F, Campbell, . N. Marshall -and D. Methven. These boys have not yet attained the regulation.- age for" essay competitions, out they -received good marks. ■ ' . la a brief address delivered by the Rev Richards, -he .stated that, in his opinion Mrs Baybutt (who has charge of the Sunday School) was undoubtedly one of the finest teachers in the Dominion and the. high marks gained testified to the patience and perseverance she has exercised. Refreshments were freely provided, and the Benediction . closed a pleasant and profitable evening. The following , are th € detailed results : — . . CATECHISM— Maximum marks, 100.
