WEST COAST RUGBY UNION
The New- Zealand Rugby Union has devoted' some £200 for fostering the game of football among the primaryschools of .New Zealand. About £13 is »the sum devoted to the West Coast, and last Saturday the Rugby Union called together the head teachers ot the different schools, so as to devise ways and means to meet the wishes of the parent -union. Dr McKay acted as Chairman, and Mr Keatnig as secretary, while the followin- teachers represented the different schools : — Messrs de Berry (Cobden) Wickes (Blackball), O'Flvnn (Seddon Runanga) •Noble (Taylorville), and Bio.her Arthur (Catholic). After Dr McKay had explained tne position, and the object of the mone-v devoted, the teachers present were of the opinion that a scheme of jt)iatches could ibe' arranged, on the understanding that the teams would ibe .strictly composed of primary school boys. It was further resolved to a,*-»**o.int Mr de Berry secretary of the school part of the scheme, and Messrs de Berry, O'Flvnn were appointed a com mittee to draw up rules etc., (to he submitted at a meeting dn a couple of weeks time. The usual compliment- j ary vote to the chairman terminated j the proceedings.
