The Telegraph says that for the first time tor many years trouble has recently been experienced in. the use of tainted" butter boxes made of New. Zealand, white pine. (How it got used - is, not ascertained. There is 1 an indication 'of- either carelessness with the box makers or the supplies. The pine ""running out develops a strong smoky, scent and permeates and ruins. the flavor of butter. Some boxes are so affec.ted that the butter is not usable even for pastry purposes. The difficulty is aggravated in cases where the factories obtain boxes from Sydney in shooks. Packed this way the timber sweats and the objectionable taint is intensified.
