CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
A meeting of the Charitable Aid and Hospitals Board was held at the County Council Chambers last evening. Present — Messre J. Warren (chariman), Nancarrow, Marshall, Ryall. Lahman, Parfitt, M'Kechnie, Sheedy, Barkley, Clifford, Cameron, and Foley. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read as follows : — To the Colonial Secretary and Premier, stating that the previous estimates had to be amended owing to the claims for maintenance of destitute children. The outward and inward correspondence was read and approved of. A legal opinion was read from the Board's solicitor as to the relatives who were liable to contribute towards the maintenance of destitute persons under the Act Accounts were passed for payment as follows : — Maintenanceof indigentchildren at the Industrial School, Caversham, LO4 16s sd ; do do, St Mary's School, Nelson, L6B ss ; Grey Hospital, L 256 17s 5d ; stationery, L2ls ; petty cash, 8s 9d ; secretary's salary, Ll2 10s. TIII3 concluded the business, and the Board adjourned till next month. j
