BRUNNERTON.
[FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.] July 20. A meeting of the Grey Valley Miners' Association was held to-night in the Good Templars Hall for the (purpose of appointing a doctor for the miners. Mr Bishop, secretary, explained the reason for calling the meeting, and said that as there were thrpo applicants it would be for the meeting to decide. The results are as follow : — Dr. Foote, Wellington ... 28 Dr. Smith, Greymonth ... 8 Dr. Monckton, Kumara ... 5 A large number refrained from voting. Patrick Rogers, Intends to open the Dobson Town Hotel, on July 22, in a style never seen on the Coast before, or at least for a number of years. He has had the place fitted up, so that the most particular person could not find fault with the accommodation. The rooms have been furnished, and everything that could be desired in a city is to be found in the hotel abovenamed. The man Saffal, who left here under such mysterious circumstances, has been seen crossing the Amuri Plains, on the road to Christchurch. Constable Scully received news to that effect thii morning j also, that he passed through the Ahaura about a week awo. The news was sent by the constable in charge of the Ahaura (Constable Barry). The boy is srith him, so that happily there has been no tragedy.
