CAPTURE OF MANDALAY.

December 2. His Excellency, the Viceroy, received advices from Burmah announcing that Mandalay was in the hands of the British. General Prendergast reports that the troops under his command entered the city y^starday without meeting any opposition on the pat of the Burmese. Earl Dufferin communicated with Mr Birnard, High Commissioner of British Burmah, instructing him to take charge of Theebaws territory temporarily and administer provisionally in the Queens name.
