HEAVY RAIN.

Very heavy rain fell in the North Canterbury district duriug the greater part of last night. It will do an immense amount of good to the crops which were suffering seriously from the effects of the north westers. The record of the rainfall last night and up to 9 a.m to-day, gives 0.66 in. For the whole of last month the rainfall was only 0.78 in.
