WEATHER REPORT— SEPTEMBER,

Our weather reporter sends us the following " notes ": — The lowest temperature was (in doors) 43° on the 9th ; 44° on the sth, llth, and 12th ; 45° and 46° on the 4th, 7th, and 24th. The highest temperature was — 60° on the 30th; 58° on the 27th and 28th; 57° on the 29th ; 55° on the loth and 20th. Rain fell upon 15 days, viz : — On Ist, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, sth, 6th, 7th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, and>3oth. Heavy rain and hail on the 3rd. and 4th ; steady rain on the 15th : stormy and showery on the 26th ; stormy and wet on the 28th ; steady rain and flood on the 29th ; stormy and showery on the 30ih ; remaining wet day 3 were showery or drizzling rain. Mean temperature for the month, 49°. Taking the month throughout it was unusually fine, September being generally a wet, boisterous month. A total eclipse of the sun occurred'on the morning of the 9th, an account of which has already appeared. One circumstance connected with this phenomenon is wo-th recording, vix. : — That the weather which was very wet, boisterous, bleak, and disagreeable, suddenly changed on the night of the Bth, the eclipse ushering in beautiful, clear, bright weather, which lasted until the 15fch without scarcely a break. [The readings were taken at 9 a.m. — none barometical.]
