GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE INQUIRY.

— : ♦ [prom our correspondent.] Wellington, July 20. Another committee is enquiring into this year into the working of the Government printing office. The committee consists of the following members :— Messrs Darga- ■■ ville, Joyce, J. B. Whyte, Cowan, W."F. Buckland, Samuel, Bruce, Cadman, and Fisher (the mover). I hear that Carson (Wanganui), Kirkbride (Rangitikie), Leary 1 (Palmerston North), Horton (Auckland Herald), Fenwick (Otago Daily Times), and large numbers of others are likely to be examined. The object of the enquiry i is with the view of letting out some of the i ;vork by tender ; but the office is in a dis- • graceful conditioa and wants pulling i down. In spite of that drawback good • work is .turned out, and the Government 5 stroke has very little place in the office ■ presided over by Didsbury.
