Chkistchuch, March 11. Up to last night the number of payments made on account of the Property Tax was 1983, the amount paid being slightly over L 19.000. The 1983, however, does not represent the exact number of individuals who so made payments, a3 in some cases two halfyearly instalments due at the end of the present month were paid, while in others only one of them was paid. The Governor arrived at Lyttelton this morning, and came on by special train. He was met by the Mayor and members of the City Council, representatives of several public bodies, Justice Johnston, and the leading citizena. Addresses were re^d. The Vice-Regal party afterwards were conveyed in a drag through the city.
