INTESTATE ESTATES.
[to the editor.] Sir — I be^T to call attention through the medium of your valuable columns to the manner in whi.ch the sale of the deceased Butlin Porter's mining property was disposed of by auction lately at No Town, not the slightest intimation being given to the mates or friends of the deceased, the property thereby being completely sacrificed, and the. result of the sale most unsatisfactory to the relations and friends of the deceased. I also wish to call(attention to the manner in which the sale was advertised, the notice of the advertisement having arrived simultaneously with the auctioneer. The sale instead of being held at the Courfc House as advertised was held under Davery's verandah, intended purchasers being thereby led astray. By inserting these few lines Bhowing the loose manner in which' the Government transacts the business of those who, unfortunately die intestate, you will confer a favor on those who have been sufferers to a great extent by their — to use a veiy mild expression — gross carelessness. Justice. No Town, September 29.
