COMMERCIAL,
Messrs P. S. Dempsey and Co., sharebroker?, Lyell, report as follows :— " Bustness in some lines have shown a considerable amount of activity during the past week. We have placed several parcels of Break o'Days at 14s- these shares have for the past day or two denoted a decided inclination to advance in price. Lyell Creeks and Orientals are also advancing. We have disposed of a quantity of the former at L 22 103 per 250, and some of the latter at an improved figure. Some Long Drives, Stellas, and Great Extendeds have also changed hands at fair prices, and a half share in the Central has been sold for L9o— a nursed improvement on last quotations. LIOO has been refused for a half share (11 shares) in the newly-formed Excelsior Company. The Alpine, William Tell, and most of the other lines are remarkably quiet."
