EXPORTS. Per Wallace, for Westport : 16 truck wheels, 16 pedestals, 1 bundle barrowwheels.
The schooner Gleaner arrived at Melbourne on the 22nd March, from Greymouth The s s Waipara arrived from Hokitika on Wednesday morning and will leave this morning for the same port and Okartto. Amongst her passengers for the latter place is Mr Tait— who purposes taking photographic views of the celebrated Mount Cook glaciers and surrounding scenery. The s.s St Kilda is announced, to leave this morning for Waugauui direct. The p.s Wallace arrived yesterday morning from Nelson via Hokitika, and sails again this morning for Westport. The Okarito bar is reported as having silted up considerably within the past few days, and it is the intention of Captain Turnbnll to do a little in the dredging process there this week, a pair of harrows being inte -(led to be taken down by the steamer Waipara on their next trip with this object. Some years ago, this bar it ■will be remembered got closed up altogether, and drays were seen for weeks to pass ever the spot where the river ijsuaUy empties itself. To prevent a recurrence of such an event this year, and before commencing the proposed wharf, stagp, the Chief Harbortioned, which will materially insure the stability of the proposed woodwork, and better define the present course of the water. — West Coast Tivies.
