CUBE BOATING CLUB.
The annual meeting of members of this club was held at Wearing’s Koiapoi Hotel on Friday evening. Twelve were present, Mr G. H. Wearing, president, in the obair. Mr F, Weston, hou. sec, read the report. In presenting the fourteenth annual report the officers congratulated the club on its flourishing position, having cleared all liabilities and purchased a new pair-oar outrigger and double sculling boat, which ought to have arrived in time for the Lyttelton regatta, but were delayed by a m alireoted voyage. The club had been represented in the different regattas as follows: —Lyttelton : Senior fours, pair and doable sculls j winning the fours and coming second in the other. Heathoote : Senior fours, pair and double sculls, junior pairs, and ladies’ plate, and senior sculls ; winning senior fours and junior pairs. Kaiapoi: Senior fours, pairs, double sculls, junior fours, junior double soulli, and single sculls s winning senior fours, pairs, and junior doable sculls. It would thus be seen that the club had been victorious in all the principal events, winning about £BB. The members of the club are thirteen, and the value of its property £220. The thanks of the club were duo to the crews in the senior races, Messrs John and A, Winterbourne, G. Wright, E. Day, and J. Perrin ; In the junior races 0. Wright, E. Wright, and A. Winterbourne, and F, Weston and A. Mathews as coxswains. The report was adopted, and it was decided to adjourn the meeting at its rising till Monday evening to receive the balance-sheet. The officers elected were—President and treasurer, Mr G. H, Wearing ; vice-president, Mr J. Perrin, sen.; captain, Mr J. Winterbourne ; custodian, Mr J. Perrin, jun. j secretary, Mr F. Weston. A suggestion was made to consider a redaction in the members’ subscription, bat finding no support it was withdrawn. Messrs Wearing, Winterbourne, Perrin, Weston, and Wilson were appointed a committee to revise tho rules, to report at next meeting. It was resolved to open the season with a procession of boats on Saturday, October I4tb, when the new boats will be named. The custodian undertook to have all the boats put in order for the opening. A list of native names of New Zeeland birds, the spelling of which began with E, was submitted, and a proposal made to adopt the same for all the club’s boats, the consideration of whioh was deferred till next meeting. Messrs E. Baker, W. Hills, O. Gill, F. Butts, A. MoDougal, J. Wyllie, F. Shcrrat, and J, Rockett were elected members. Votes of thanks to the retiring officers were passed. The meeting then adjourned till Monday evening.
