THE WAS IN EGYPT.

BT ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH COPYRIGHT. Fbbuter’s telegrams.} ALEXANDRIA, September 13. Later particulars to hand prove that the British attack upon the enemy’s position at Tel-el-Kehir was brilliantly conducted. The Highlanders were the first to enter the entrenchments. The defeat inflicted upon the enemy has been most crashing, and it is now deemed most improbable that any great opposition will be shown by Arahi to the projected British advance on Cairo. [“Argus” Special, per United Press Association.] LONDON, September 13,12.17 p m. In the engagement at Tel-el-Kebir the Artillery opened a heavy fire from a sheltered position before the enemy were aware of the advance of the infantry. The British troops were within a mile from Tel-el-Kebir when their advance was discovered, and the Egyptians at once commenced a heavy rifle fire. The British reserved their fire, and carried the defensive works at the point of the bayonet, after a tremendous slaughter of the enemy.
