ARRIVAL OF THE SAN FRANCISCO MAIL.

♦ Auckland, November 30. Arrived —Australia, with the English mails. Passengers, for New Zealand—Mesdames McHugh, Collins, Mason, Mumford, Mr Sinclair and wife, Mr Moss, wife, and family, Messrs Tapper, Rankin, Mason, Adams, Beardsley, Thornton (2), Richardson, Mr Enys and wife, Mr Ross and wife. MAIL SUMMARY. ENGLAND. Frederick Dandell, of London, has failed for £300,000. Forty lives were lost in a colliery explosion at Pemberton, Lincolnshire. Immediate danger of famine in India has disappeared. High prices rule, but the pressure will be wholly removed when the spring crops are assured. The steamer Cousett, from Antwerp to New York, arrived at Queenstown on Oct. 11th. Her bows were stove forward, and the compartment filled with water. She was in collision with the ship Jason on her voyage from Liverpool to Melbourne with passengers. The collision occurred some hundred miles west of Fasnet. The Jason sank, but the steamer rescued all hands.

Messrs Nancampo, London, have failed for £275,000.

A terrible colliery accident occurred at Lugh Blantyre, near Glasgow. Mukhtar Pasha has abandoned Erzeroum at the request of the inhabitants, the town not being in a position to stand a siege, and the Russians entered without striking another blow, after the ten hours’ fighting at Dive Boyan, on the 6th, when Mukhtar was slightly wounded. The Ardahan division of the Russian army has entered Western Euphrates Valley, endangering the Turkish communication between Batoum andJJErzeroum and Trebiziboud. The fighting since the battle of Aladja Jagh has placed the Turks in a worse position. Mukhtar and Ismael Pashas have been beaten out of the field. Their armies are utterly demoralised. The retreat from Aladja, Jaga, to Erzeroum was a complete rout. There are no details of the losses at the battle of 6bh. At a great battle on the heights before Kars fought on October 15th, the right wing of the Turkish army was surrendered on the field, and the left and centre being driven under the walls of the fortress by the victors. In Bulgaria General Gourka has completed the investment of Plevna, defeating Chefket Pasha in several bloody eugagaments, October 24. Gurniji Dubruk was captured after a day’s engagement. Two Pashas, 30,000 infantry, and , one regiment of cavalry were taken prisoners. Teliche was subsequently carried by assault of the Imperial Guards. The general position, to latest date, is that Plevna is closely invested, Kars ready to capitulate, Erzeroum occupied by the Russians, Mukhtar beaten on all points, Sulieman, cheeked by the Czarewitch along the line of the Lorn, remains inactive, his communication with Silistria and Varna is menaced by the advance of General Zimmerman, and the massing of a large army from Tirnova towards Osman Baz: r. The Porte is unable to place another army in the fi Id. The Russians are calling on all reserves of Cossacks, and embodying 103 infantry battalions. Armenia is practically lost to the Porto. The Russians are clearing Balkan pusses of Turks.
