SHOW ASSOCIATION

THIS YEAR’S RODEO SPECIAL, PRIZES DONATED Arrangements for this year’s rodeo performance at the Showgrounds were discussed at- a meeting of the committee of the Poverty Bay A. anti P. Association. Mr J. C. Graham presided It- was decided to include steer and calf-riding and buck-jumping competitions in the programme. Mr R. Graham agreed to supply the necessary cattle for the steer-riding and Mr J. Elvers undertook to procure a -supply of calves.

In connection with the inter-dist-rict rodeo cup the -secretary, Mr W. E. Chamberlain, reported that Hawke’s Bay was the district next entitled to a cup, competition, and then Ruatoria, before it was Poverty Bay’s turn. The, secretary was instructed to ' ascertain whether Hawke’s Bay and Ratoiia desired to exercise their right, to a- cup competition, and if not whether they would be agreeabel to the next competition being held in this district.

On tlio motion of Mr R. Graham, seconded by Mr L. Field, it was- decided to conduct a local district competition for teams of four riders atthe rodeo, riding in this competition to, count for the open competition, provided the competitor had So nominated prior to competing. It was resolved that if an inter-district com petition was held the riders’ performances could not count for either the local district or open competitions.

The committee decided to award a specafi prize of £1 10s to each competitor successfully riding his bullock to the finishing line with one hand entirely free of contact with the bullock or .surcingle, and that each competitor completing the course using) both hands be awarded a special prize of 10s.
