Reference to tlie sewerage connection in Stanley road was made in the public works committee’s report to tiie .borough Council last evening, it being stated .that Mr. J. L. Small 1 had waited on the committee with a request that m connecting his pro- ' perty with the sewer main ho be per? mitted to instal a man-hole on the lootway connected up with the manhole to sewer tho adjacent properties. That would mean opening up the rpadway lor ono connection to the main sewer only, instead ol at least six or seven such connections. Tho sewer main in this particular locality is at a depth of lilt., and a number of openings made in tho roaU to this depth would considerably weaken the foundations of the road. The engineer expressed approval ot the proposal, and the committee recommended that the request be granted provided Mr. Srnaill assumes . responsibility for tho laying of the i mains, installation of a man-hole, and maintenance thereof, the work .'to be carried, out to tho satisfaction of the Borough ; engineer, and the contractor to apply to the engineer • for levels prior to the commencement of the work. —The report was adopt-
