Nobody copkl confuse Gary Cooper and Will Rogers yet Cooper’s ' easy turn of phrase, slouching manner, and genial good humor suggest what .a younger edition of Will Rogers would have' been Mr Deeds, player of the üba in the Mandrake Falls town hand and writer of sentimental verse, inherits a huge sum and goes to town. There he meets typical grafters who hope to secure for themselves a share of his wealth. Rut the simple hoy is so simple that lie fails to fall lor their wiles. The newspapers chase him. and unsuccessfully, till dean Arthur, a reporter, captures his imagination and reveals his simplicity ias something comic to sophisticated townspeople. Disgusted, Mr Deeds decides to give away his wealth and retire again to Mandrake Tails. He devises u scheme that leads to court action but that also leads to happiness. Miss Arthur reveals that happy naturalness that she showed recently in “The Ex-Mrs Bradford” plus better know ledge of how to use her screen opportunities..-
