Tho Dannevirke Hospital Board, contemplating a new building scheme, applied to tho Government Life Office for a loan of £25,000. At tho board meeting to-day, the general manager of the Government Life advised that his board was unable to entertain the application. Tho chairman of the Hospital Bo i.-d Ai r L. Stein, said he understood the Government Life Office had any amount of money available, but would not lend at 3$ per cent. Seeing that other Government institutions were lending at that rate he considered that tho Government Life Office was inconsistent and suggested that as this was an important matter concerning local bodies, tho board should foiward a protest to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance.
