HOUSING SCHEME FOR THE CORONATION. JOHANNESBURG, June 12. Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city and tho centre of the great gold mining industry, will mark the coronation of King Edward VM. by erecting a Coronation Housing Scheme. The title deeds of the scheme will bj banded to the King us a gift. The city’s Utijity Housing Company has asked the Union’s GovernorGeneral, the Earl of Clarendon, to approve the proposal and this ins Excellency has done. The Countess of Clarendon has also' given her support. Tho scheme to raise funds will be capitalised by public donations so that the buildings may bo unencumbered because under the present system of Government ' subsidies all building schemes arc mortgaged to tho local authority for tho periof of the loan.
