BACK TO JOBS
— SUCCESS OF PLACEMENT SCHEME WORK FOUND FOR 143 MEN The placement schema, the lutes!, effort on the part of the Employment Department, to provide work for men in their old-time jobs, is. proving ait outstanding success. The placements to date total 143, and include farm hands, carpenters, electricians, 'painters, labo urs, plumb ers, clerical workers, mechanics, m’llbnnds, bushmen, etc. Special; efforts are being made to secure re-employment in the various trades for those young men who through economic causes have had to forego their apprenticeship after serving two or three years. The placement, officer, Mr H. M. Hackett, would wel come inquiries from any employer who could absorb any of this class of labor. The lads on the register arc of a: particularly good type. Many employers have expressed their whole-hearted appreciation of the system of conforming references, and it is: no unusual occurrence for the. application sent to a former employer for a reference to bo accompanied by the request that if the man is still available, the employer could now find a place- for him.
