CRICKET CLUB’S SOCIAL
PRESENTATION TO Mil CARROLL
The annual social evening of the City and Gisborne Gas Co. cricket clubs was presided over by Air A. R. Baker.
The programme included songs; by Messrs R. Sloane, It. Green, It. Nicholson, P. Mil okay. •). Mercer, and ,7. .T. Macdonald ; a violin solo by Air W. L’ghton ; and ai humorous recitation by Mr J. Lyall. Toasts were honored a-s “The Poverty Bay Cricket Assw-la-tion”, “The City Cricket Club”, “The Gisborne Gas Company Cricket Club”. “Donors and Board”, “Kindred Sports”, “The Ladies”, “Week-end Cricketers’’. “Umpire 5 ’ Association”, “Mr P. Bailey”, “Artists”, and “The Press.” A presentation of a pair of military hair brushes suitably inscribed, was made bv .Mr .T. .J. Macdonald to Mr J. Carroll on liisi departure from Gisborne to Auckland. The toast “Mr Carroll” was proposed by Mr A. B'gtiall and enthusiastically responded to. Air Carroll said the gift would serve to recall pleasant memories of his days in Gisborne.
