SMALL SPECULATORS TO BE PROTECTED.
STOCK EXCHANGE SCHEME. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Jan. 4. The London Stock Exchange subcommittee. which Inis been considering for some time the growth of the “fixed trust” movement, in which it is estimated more than 4140,000,000 is invested in Britain, lias issued an interim report. Realising that the, growth as the result of a genuine public demand for means by which the comparatively small investor may enter a slightly speculative, but clearly defined, field of investment with the benefits of a spread of risk, the committee finds that public interest demands an authoritative establishment of standards to safeguard the public, and advises legislation for this purpose. The committee has drafted comprehensive regulations covering the form of trust deeds and certificates issued to investors, rules of management and other matters, which are designed to remove dangers which the committee foresees might result from an uncontrolled development of the movement under the influence of competition. . .
