OPOTIKI v. TAUMARUXUI (Special to the Times.) OPOTIKI, Jan- 3.

A one innings match played, between an Opotiki eleven and a touring Tnumarunui team was played at Opoliki to-day in fine weather. Opotiki batted first and scored SB IT. Man by 44. E. Wells 12, C. Shove 12). Bowling: Manson took 3 for 15 and Hemmington three for 14.

Taumarunui made 115 (Manson 49 Schroeder 13). Manson hit four sixes and five fours. Bowling: Wells six for 56, J. Man by, three for 18. Taiimnnmui won by 17 runs.

BOWLS BAY OF PLENTY TOURNEY (Special lo the Times). The final of the Bay of Plenty centre open tournament was played in Opotiki this morning between teams skipped by Lorrimer and Short representing Waihi and Opotiki. The teams were: Roberts, Arbuckle, Ward, Lorrimer (skip), and Reeves, Stuart, Budd, and Short (skip).

Lorrimer had won A section outright with 5 wins and no losses, while Short had to play off a tie, with Peebles for the right to represent- the B section, which Short won. The weather this morning was- still very fine, with tho greens very fast. There was a good gallery of spectators, a lot of interest being taken.in the game, the winner of which holds the Francis Ciip for the next twelve months- Lorrimer was expected to put up a big fight, but, ns the game turned out, Short (who scorecl four on the first head) nwintaained the lead from the- start and eventually ran out a- winner by 23 to 9 on the 20th. head.

At tho conclusion of the game, the cup and miniatures were presented to the winning team 1 by Mr W. Connor, who congratulated both winner and runner up on the good displays, cheers being given for. both
