nj.P.A. by Elec. Tel. rjgotJ. LONDON, January 2. Tho Shanghai correspondent of the Times says that, the twenty-fifth anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Republic was celebrated: by an impressive memorial serWice.
At Nanking the president broadcast an appeal for national co-opera-tion with the Government to secure local autonomy and constitutionalism which would conform with the Sun Yat-Sen code. He announced the proposed publication of a draft constitution on Hay 5 and the election of delegates to the people’s national congress by October 10 and the convention of the congress on November 12. ' ......
Chiang Kai-Shek presided at the celebration at the party headquarters. Six thousand people were present-. He later made what is believed to be his first appearance before the microphone and broadcast an exhortation to a new life. He instanced the development of agriculture, the reclamation of land, the river conservancy for industry, and the progress of’communications. “Our brains are as good as tlipse of foreigners. We are physically fit, but have been selfish, unorderly and disunited,” he concluded.
