. HEAD-PHONES FOR CHILD PATIENTS. - 4-H .'A WATERSIDE LTNiON’S .DOnItION BOARD APPROVES INSTALLATION. Eighteen pairs ply heiid-phonesjA-,a donation by ; the, Waterside Workers’, Union, are to be installed in • the children’s ward of Cook Hospital,' tho board decided at yesterday’s meeting. Warm appreciation, of the action of the- union, was voiced by members. The. subject was . brought before the meeting by the finance eo m mittee which reported as follows: “At the request of the .Waterside Workers’ Union, local radio dealers have made many enquiries in. regard to the installation of liead-phones in the children’s ward. A statement from the • chairman of a ‘committee appointed by the Watersiders’ Union for the purpose was to the effect that sufficient funds'are in hand, and it i s their wish to install* 18 pairs of head-phones in the children’s ward, the installation to meet tho requirements of the board’s engineer.’ In the course of subsequent discussion, reference Was made to. the- risk of damage through the children dropping the phones, and also to the possibility that, at, some Hi two time, tho children, iwould b 0 housed in another ward. It was stressed too, that the. watersiders’ present aim was. to benefit tho children. “It is a very fine, gesture On Uic part of the watersiders,” said Mr. (A G. Ba-yliss, a: comment echoed by several other speakers. After further brief discussion it was decided to approve of the'installation, - and a vote of appreciation Jo tho Watersiders’. Union was carrion with acclamation,
