There was a good attendance at a meeting of Gisborne shareholders in Mahakipawa Reefs Ltd., a company at present engaged in developmental work on property in Marlborough. It was reported to the meeting that substantial progress had been made with the inspection of the property bv an experienced gold-miner and that the company was on the point of securing the transfer of an adjoining property, for future development. The directors appointed provisionally to conduct the registration of the company were re-elected for the ensuing year, and the shareholders gave their approval to the proposal for acquiring adjoining land. It was explained that the vendjors of . this property would accept shares in the company as a consideration for tho transfer, and would take their chance of profiting from tho operations of the company.

The location of the company’s original claim is in the hills above the alluvial • claims of the Mahakipawa company, which is claimed, to he one of the most productive gold-mining companies, working on an alluvial basis in tho Dominion.
