Jacobs and put up a. great conte t in It’s first professional fight. Jacobs is now fighting at 12 stone, find at the; rate lie is going, will very' soon bo in tile same class as Reeve, Luttrell, and Da.sicr. Young Jim Griffin, who suffered a slight, injury , in his contest. with Stirling at Dunedin, n R'W weeks Ago, is now fullv recovered, but is not talcing part in further contests for a while. • The Wellington Association has matched Billx Aitken and Percy Hawes, and this will be the first pro. figlit to be staged in the windy city for about eight months, ’ ti Local amateurs are busy getting into, condition for the fa’t tournament Heavyweight J. .Tenis'dn, .who K, trained by “Snowy”. Thompson, is makitin- nr”ent strides, and mixes it fre'elv when sparring with Watty Robertson. The Tarnuaki ebamniop Hutchins, who has hitherto fought as a welter, expects to weigh about lost. 91b. tor the contest at G'shorne. Hutchins Iras fought hovers of all wc'ghtk during the past two vear's. .and defeated Rogti kt. when the bitter was bolding the Dominion middleweight title. Sam Fenton, who will be remembered in connection with High School toumevs a few mars back, is training with W. McPherson. Fenton it a rugged fighter ivhtv-'e methods will please the fans. A. Andrews, who will be Fenton* • opponent next week is training under the direction of Lin. Robin "on. and is quite" confident of being able to deal with his opponent’s bustling tactics. Much interest will be centred in the appearance of D. Hceney. who is now in the welter daks, and meets ‘Mike Callaghan. Tho latter is most elusive, but lacks aggressiveness. Sam Hotri's, A. Campbell, and W. F'enton are being trained at Wliatututu biy Reg. Gregory, and it goes without saying that the boys mentioned will have had a. good grounding in the main essential's of the art.
