DOUBLE BILL TO-MORROW Jean Muir, of “As the Earth Turns” will appear at the Majestic to'-Wrrow in “Desirable.” In her previous 111 m, Miss Muir was seen as an unsophisticated girl in quiet, homely, and for the most Jia r t rural surroundings.. It- was not a “costume” role, and lier naturalness created the impression that she was best suited to this type of character. In ‘Desirable” she i« seen as a :in very fashionable circles, and she has an opportunity fo demonstrate that her lack of sophistication can survive, and indeed bo enhanced by very sophisticate*! dressing. Miss Muir is genuinely youthful in appearance and manner, and she possesses n clear, pleasant voice, in short, -sho is a charming personality. “Desirable” is by no means a one-star picture. The cast is a strong one, including George Brent, .Veree Trasdale, Charles Starrett, an,d John Halliday. The secowf .feature will be “The Power and the Glory’”. This picture is superbly noted. Spencer Tracey gives a performance of great power and establishesi himself as an unusually fine character actor. Colleen Moore, who lias not appeared on the screen for some time, has a straight dramatic role, a new line -of work for her. Ralph Morgan gives a fine performance, and at no times does his own personality intrude upon the characterisation.
