TENNIS DANCE

(Special to the Times.)

The annual dance m connection with tho tennis tourney was held on Monday night in the carved meeting house. The weather was anything but kind, but a goodly crowd turned up. Wi Hapi’s orchestra provided the music, while extra, s were kindly contributed toy Misses Wicksteed and K. Beale. Tho duties of M.C.’s were , ably carried out by Messrs Fivers and Anderson. A tasty buffet supper was served informally. Among those present were Air and Mrs. G. Chalmers, Mr and Airs S. Hale, Mr and Airs Fivers, Mr and Mrs Roskruge, Mr and Mrs Bowen, Air arid Mrs C. T. .Telford, Airs Muir, Aliases Trafford, Lee, Oates. D. Pepper, Doig, L. Coop, T. Ferris (Gisboriie), B. Pepper, E. Daley, E. Coop, Busby, Eivers, M. Daley, E. Plummer, AT. and E. Wilson, J. Newton J. Houghton, Wilson, J. Redstone, Prince, Air and Mils Morrison, Miss Ludbrook, Aliss Beale.

RUGBY NOTES

The football season was opened oki Monday, when Wairnai juniors tried conclusions with a junior fifteen from Tolaga Bay. Waima proved the better team on the day’s play and won bv 20 to 3. Air Rungarunga wn>* referee. As a curtainraiser a public school team suffered defeat at the hands of the Native school team by 6 to nil.

TENETS

The wet weather on. Sunday and again on Monday definitely finished the tennis tourney, which was most disappointing as, on account of the lateness of tlie season, tho committee will finl it difficult to finalise. However, it is hoped to finish it over the coming week-end, should the courts dry out ■sufficiently.
