TYROL DISORDER
GUERILLA WARFARE REPORTED “HUSH-HUSH” POLICY. (U.P.A. by Elec. Tel- -Copyright.; VIENNA, April 23. According to unconfirmed reports, guerilla warfare, news of which the Italian Government has suppressed, is being waged between the police and German speaking inhabitants in the region ceded to Italy after the war. The Italian authorities are considering placing some districts under martial law. Germany’s success in the Saar has increased anti-Italian propaganda, and is believed to be responsible for south Tyrolens violently resisting attempts to convert- them to Italians by proscribing German and allowing only Italian in schools. There are rumours of bomb outrages oil railway bridges and electricity works, and attempts on tlie lives of prominent people. The police are alleged to be making mass arrests, arid the courts severely punishing offenders. A Terrorist organisation was discovered at Brixen. Tliose arrested were not the ringleaders, but students and sons of business men who said that they had received explosives from an unknown source under a proinise of payment for successful outrages. The Itrtliaii Elrihassy describes as unfounded reports of Tyrolean guerilla warfare.—P.A.
