Unemployment in Australia- 'is according to n member of the ‘Times’ staff, who has just returned from a visit there, seemingly on a, par -with that prevailing in New Zealand. Whilst in Melbourne he was privileged to see the Eight Hours’ procession in which in addition tfti the large number of unions represented there was a large parade of unemployed men, these being augmented by some thousands of sustenance workers who were on, strike. These men carried hundreds of banners with various slogans on, perhaps the, most popular one calling for the release of' the New Zealander, Griffon. In addition 1° tli G men on parade, there was a goodly sprinkling of-children and women. The proceedings were conducted l throughout in good order and reflected credit on the organisers.
