Symes was the outstanding cwfmmer of the carnival. This Canterbury champion won the 100yds, 220yds and 440yds championships for Otago-, and was a member of the .winning relay team. Miss ReoS-Jones (Otago) established a university record! of 93sec. in file 100yds women’s breaststroke, while the 220yds men’s breaststroke varsity record was lowered hv Horsfall in 3min 20 3-ssoos.
