G.A.A. AND ir.e. COMMITTEE’S MONTHLY M FETING. NO A’JSTT TO OPOTIKI. The weekly meeting of the executive of the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harriers’ Club was held last evening, Air AV. Tf. Wildish, presiding. Others present were: Messrs R. Quinn. T, Leslie, F. Ch'it-tJ\ F. Gavin, AV. Campbell., F. Robbie, 4. Algicj, J. Af. Primrose, L. Lynskev, T. R. Gordon and L. Baker (lion, secretary). Regarding the proposed visit ol a club team to Opotiki during the Easter period, a letter was received from the Opotiki Athletic Club intimating that ns the season in Opotiki had' closed- officially on March 23, it would not he possible for the meeting to eventuate until next season. It was pointed out that the reason for suc-h an early closing was to ensure a retention of puprie interest. The season just terminated had been a, most successful one, all expenses in connection noth the flood-lighting of the sports ground having been defrayed. Tt is the intention of the club to nffiiliate with the N.Z.A.A.A. next season and' to arrange exchange of visits. Tt was resolved to write the Opotiki Club executive thanking them for the communication and congratulating the club upon the success of the initial season. Accounts amounting to £4 Is 5d were passed for payment. It was decided to inform the Hockey Association that it had: been agreed! not to remove the fence in front of the stand on 1 the Childers road "reserve until after the visit of the Indian hockev team. It was further agreed: to allow the Hockey Association the use of the fence during the winter season;, prodded that hod'v is willing to pa.y half th.e cost of erec-t-ioh. s Tenders were called for the i‘ pturfing of the ground, which work will he commenced tomorrow. It was decided to write the executive of the Herbert Smith Trust thanking them for a generous donation towards the club’s funds. Airs Mcnzics was granted permission to make arrangements for a dance to he held on Tuesday, April 16, for the purpose of paying off the amount outstanding in connection with the installation of the d'ancing boa.rd. For the meeting on April 12, the following programme was approved : —Oh am pion sh i p-s Ladies’ shot putt; 440yds men’s flat; javelin throw; 120yds hurdles; 3-mile fiat; junior high jump. —-Hamlion p. Events.— 220.vds boys’ flat; 120yds ladies’ handicap (final distance Norma Wilson Cup) ; 120yds junior handicap ; 220yds men’s handicap; -J-mfPe men’s flat handicap; t-milo men’s walk; 1-mile senior cycle handicap -j-mile junior cycle, handicap ; 440yds ladies’ relay; 4.loyds men's relay; .wrestling and dancing. • —Sheen Badges. Conditions.— It was pointed out that the conditions governing the Sheen relay badges were as -under: — Races to- hip he-id on alternate" weeks; points to he- 5\ 3 and 1, for first second and third places-, respectively; the team gaining most points during the 1934-35 season to ho the Outright winners of the trophies. In connection with; the juvenile meeting to be held this evening at 7.30 it was agreed to accept post entries on the ground 1 . A donation of 10s Od towards the cost -of trophies for the juvenile meeting was received from Air 'F. Chitty.' •
