The Sicilian playwright, Luigi Pir* anandello, lias been awarded the Nobel Prize for literature, states a Stockholm message.—P.A. -Mr Harry -K. 1 - Bourne, of Bristol, the 1934 holder of the British .Thomp-son-Housten Fellowship in electrical research, is a nephew of, Mr J. H. Ormond and Mrs A. J. Cox, of Gisborne. A -Sydney P.A. cable - states that Mr William Sneddon has been appointed - - general. : manager of the A.M.P. Society in succession to Mr \ A. C, Hollinwortb (retired). - The Palmerston- North branch of the New Zealand Civil Engineers’ Institutes at its annual, conference ijl Palmerston North yesterday, decided on Napier as the location -of the next meeting. Mr A. Dinnie (Napier) waa elected pesident for the ensuing year and Mr T. L. Benjamin (Napier) secretary. ! The council will comprise Messrs J. R. Hughes (Palm erston North), G.-W. B.
