ESCAPEE CAUGHT
POLICE HIDDEN IN MISSING CAR. (Press Association» - AUCKLAND. May 25. The capture of one of the two prisoners who escaped from Waikeria Borstal Institution near Te Awamutu early on Tuesday morning was effected to-night at Ngahinapouri, about ten miles south of Hamilton. The captured man is Frank Robert Baker, 21. Although the search for the other escapee,- Bernard Charles Allan Cole. 30, was continued, he is still at- liberty at a. late hour. He has the advantage of knowing the country in. the area, having lived previously at Ohaupo and Paterangi, The capture of Baker was made by three Hamilton police who remained in a missing car which had been found abandoned, with the petrol exhausted, at Ngahinapouri. As darkness fell, a man who proved to be Baker, was observed approaching the vehicle, which contained a quantity of food! He hesitated when nearing the car. whereupon the three constables gave chase, and effected his capture without difficulty. The car was removed from a farm at Arohena early on Thursday morning, and was traced by wheelmarks over clay and sand roads as far at Arapuni.
