Towards the end of next' week, ‘ Gisborne tvilj hear the chimes of the , Robinson Memorial Town Clock.
10 months public subscriptions'-.-tc/ the amount of £771 8s 4d have been raised and only £l4 11s '9d is now required to complete this latest addition to the town’s beauties. :
Collections for the fund already ac knowledged amount to £6BO 14s 10d and additional donations are acknowledged as follows: M. G. Morgan .2s 6d, ZYZ (443) Is, Friend (374) ss, Burr and Mirfield 10s, F. H. Forge £2 2s. Percy Stevens os, interest on deposit £1 ss. The nett proceeds or the clock art union (£BS 10s 6d) bring the total to £771 9s 4d. According to a statement of commitments and receipts prepared by the committee, the, position of the fund now is as follows:
Receipts: Donations as apoye £771 8s 4d, Government building subsidy £43 9s 2d, balance required £l4 lls 9d.—Total £829 10s 3d.
Commitments: Erecting towet(Reynolds’ contract) £44c ids, elec trieal mechanism (Littlejohn’s contract) £354 ss, labour and material supplied by the Borough Council £2O 15s 3d.—Total £829 10s 3d.
