TWO VESSELS ASHORE

Although most of Britain is experiencing a spell of sunshine after welcome rains which have diminished the water shortage anxieties, fog is being experienced round the coasts. The Dutch motor vessel Westlaan went ashore in a dense fcg at Portland Bill during the night and members of the crew, with the wife and two children of the captain, were brought ashore by breeches buoy. The Westlaan was refloated this morning. The schooner Mary Miller also went ashore in a thick fog off Dungeriess Point. She is in no danger, unless the wind freshens from the south and it s hoped to refloat her (Turing the day. In the meantime two lifeboats and the Dungeness life saving crew are standing by.
