WIRELESS WONDER
INCH AERIALS FOR TALK TO FRANCE LONDON, Oct. 26. A wonder wireless station has been opened at Lympne following prolonged secret tests by thp Air Ministry. It transmits oil a wave-length of 17* centimetres, and the aerials are only an inch long. Signals, focussed by a beam, are received at tlio St. Ingelvest aerodrome, in .France, where a transmitter lias been installed, enabling twoay wireless conversations to be held The micro-waves behave like light The aerials’ are surrounded by reflectors. The receivers are only twovalve 'sets, and the cost is very low. There is no interference, owing to the shortness of the wave-lengths, and it is one of the first practical applications following the investigation of the mysterious micro-waves.
