Twenty-one lives were lost when the Greek steamer Annoula sank in a. hurricane off the North Carolina coast, on Saturday last, the five survivors reported to-day after landing from the rescue vessel.
Captain George Couvielos and four members of the crew in a lifeboat wore picked up on Sunday by the steamer, Montello, 110 miles northwest of Bermuda, after drifting 60 miles.
Captain Couvielos said he called the radio operator on .Saturday morning to send an 5.0.5., when mountainous waves swept over the ship, throwing him into the sea, where he and two others were picked up by two sailors who managed to get one of the ship's lifeboats. All the remainder of the crew were drowned.
