TRUCE HALTED DURING WORLD
CONFERENCE
MR BALDWIN NOT TO BE drawn (U.P.A. by Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, May 26.
Answering a question as to whether negotiations were in progress for a currency truce during the period ot the World Economic Conference, Mr Baldwin, in Parliament, satd that it would be inconvenient to make a statement as to any general questions which.- might from time to time come under the formal discussions between the governments in anticipation of the conference, The Minister said he deprecated the term currency truce, which seemed to bc open to misapprehension.
Answering a Parliamentary , question, the Chancellor of the Exchequer said that if anything unforeseen occurred in regard to currency levels during the tariff truco, the organising committee of the Economic Conference would, no doubt, meet again' to consider the situation.
