Astounding scenes at Nice characfcterisod a match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Olympic Gymnastic Club. Half an hour after the kick-off, Wolverhampton protested against their opponents kicking, tripping and fouling, whereupon the directors and officials went on to the field and separated the teams. The police were Called in to maintain order.. The Wolverhampton manager finM |y called his team off the field. The directors of the Nice Club, however, fearing that the spectators would riot if the match was not continued, persuaded the V olvorhampton players to return, but the disturbances continued till time I;|S called ten. minutes too early. The Wolverhampton manager says he has never seen such “slaughter and would never take a team to France again
