BANK OF N.Z. NOTHING TO DO WITH BILL. Press Association! WELLINGTON, May 26 Bankers arc disinclined to comment on the criticism of the Government’s Reserve Bank Bill made by Mr. H. M. Rushworth, M.P., at the Auckland provincial farmers’ conference) at Whangarei.
One leading bank manager, however, remarked that Air. Rushworth wag wide of the mark in. inferring that the Government’s proposals (were “part of a ghastly conspiracy to transfer the control of New Zealand banking first to tlie Bank of New Zealand and then to the-- Bank for International Settle-, rnents.”
The Bank of New Zealand had nothing whatever to do with the Government’s proposals in regard t 0 a central hank. When Mr. Rushwcrtn referred to the Bank of New Zealand. he doubtless meant the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, the establishment of which was recommended' by Sir Otto Neimeyer.
