DAIRY FACTORY GUTTED
(Press Association) lIAWERA, -May '23. A fire which was discovered at 10.30 p.m. yesterday gutted the Mercinere Daily Company’s factory at Ohangai. The los s includes 1100 crates of cheese stored in the curing room. The insurance details are not available.
EIRE IN BUS BARN. THREE VEHICLES DAMAGED. (Press Association) HASTINGS. May 25. The framework and upholstery of two Government- railway buses valued at £2OOO each, were completely destroyed and more extensive damage to a smaller and le.vs vi’-uable bug was done by a fire which also completely gutted a large wood and iron building in which they were housed to-night. The outbreak ®euurred at about 10 o’clock. So far, tlie origin is not definitely known, but it is assumed that it was caused by a cigarette butt in one of the buses. The last bus was garaged at 7 o’clock, since- when no one connected with the bus service had entered, the building. The two larger buses bad been on t-lje run between Nap Hr and Hastings for the past two years and wore in good condition, but the smaller one had been in use a much longer period.
