ADMIRAL- WEMYSS

(U.ILA. bv Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, May 24 The death is reported from Cannes or Admiral Lord V'ester T\ emy=s.

Born in 15:114. Lord U.esier \\ eniyss entered tlie Navy at the age of 13 years. Ten years later h e had risen to the rank of lieutenant, and before the outbreak of the Great tVar was rear-admiral of the second Battle Squadron. He was iu command of the squadron at the lauding of troops at Gallipoli, being mentioned in despatches and knighted. The following year he was promoted viceadmiral. and was appointed an Admiral of the Fleet in 1919. In 191017 he was commander-in-chiej in ine East Indies and Egypt and in 191 S became a member oi the Mar Cabinet. He retired in 1929. He was the author of “The Navy in the Dardanelles Campaign.”
