Davis, by his industry .and ability, had been entrusted with very responsible work, and as wages clerk he had controlled £IOOO a week and was never a penny short.

The blearing of the charge of alleged manslaughter against a Napier chiropractor, John Robert Viator Hart, arising out of the death of Henry Gordon Aitken, 1 occupied the attention of His Honor Mr Justice Ostler, at the Supremo Court'to-day. The hearing of evidence for both the Crown and tlio deienco was completed, the case being, adjourned until to-mor-row, when counsel’s addresses will be given. .Evidence for the Crown was similar to that given at the inqulest in the Lowier Court hearing, the principal cross-examination being directed, at two medical practitioners, . who gave evidence, both describing chiropractic as “hocus pqpus.”'. The evidence for the defence’ was confined to three witnesses wlicc had. received or had been associated- with the treatment by Hart for pneumonia each i.of thorn stating that the treatment had been successful..
