AEROPLANE LIKE A CORK. A new aeroplane, fit-red wiili buoyancy apparatus in much the sameway as a. iiiehonr. lias been ordered by'the Air Ministry for use m 1 lie Fleet Air Arm. The machine, a Eairoy ‘‘Real.’’ was demonstrated recently at. the Harmnndsworth aerodrome (writes the aeronautical correspondent of the "Morning Post”). It is a thirco-soator reconnaissance bomber, with the Arnistrong-Siddeley Panther air-cooled radial engine. If it should he forced to take the water it can float for long periods wMi the aid of the buoyancy apparatus. A small collapsible dinghy is stowed in the upper starhun.nl wing. It is released 4>y pulling a rip cord. For test purposes the aircraft was put down in the water', and while floating was accidentally struck by a pinnace, which damaged ilie tail and fuselage. The machine, nevertheless, remained, afloat. It was then "run over” by a battle-ship, hut it bobbed up on the other side of the chip apparently little the worse.
